Articles relevant to older adults:
- Vitamin D deficiency in elderly limits function
- Age-related functional decline boosts diabetes risk
- Statins may increase diabetes risk
- Hypoglycemia events doubled dementia risk in diabetes
One other article refers to a European study on high-dose statins in older adults reduces dementia risk. However, I ask how many older adults can tolerate high-dose statins without adverse effects? And in a large population how many will develop memory health issues as an adverse reaction. Not so certain I’d rush to treat older adults with high-dose statins to reduce dementia risk.
